Here are some very new tunes that I recorded so I would not forget them. The first five songs are from Albany. I had an old mike that just was too crappy to plug into a computer.  I rigged a makeshift pre amp out of a boom box, the boom box gave just enough signal to drive the computer input. The result is quite noisy, in other words, it is the perfect bootleg recording (of songs no one wanted to hear, at least not yet anyway.)

The last two are some demos from my studio in Woodstock, NY. Something about U is a blissed out snapshot of dream forests filled with the scent of first love. I believe in you was recorded by mistake, well not really by mistake, I was showing a couple of good friends how to use a multi-track. I had been working on this song and I just ran through the parts. It was a good thing as I really would have forgotten how this song was played-I haven't even been near a piano in about a year! When I get around to recording this song properly I think it will be one of those big production numbers, like 3 or 7.

2009 has been quite a crazy year. I spent quite a lot of it in shelters and half way houses. I have seen too many grown men cry. Folks all beat up from the world. The worst of bad luck. But even in the darkest hour, there is light in your smile.

NEW SONGS
Ad Astra

I don't know if they waved goodbye
As our ship sailed into the sky
Leaving earth, entering space
Where only the stars light up her face

Through endless night
Ad Astra
At the speed of light
Ad Astra

Perhaps we'll meet a cousin or two
On a distant island of blue
Out here, in a sea of stars
Spying mirrors of Jupiter, Saturn and Mars

Through endless night
Ad Astra
At the speed of light
Ad Astra

She takes you by the hand
As you sail to a distant land
Where we go I do not know,
but it is there our children will grow

Through endless night
Ad Astra
At the speed of light
Ad Astra

A new sky is ours tonight
We sleep with angels in the starlight
A million suns, rise as we wake
Sailing the Cosmos for freedoms sake.

Through endless night
Ad Astra
At the speed of light
Ad Astra

A Second Away

G
What's goin' on?
A#
In a World spinnin' 'round 'round and 'round
G
Spin night into dawn
A#
A chance for you to be found

C
You can't lose
A#
If you choose
C
To do
A#
What you can do
C
Or everybody's future is just
G - A# - C
A toss of the coin

Don't put off

Just because of the cost

No matter what they say
A#
The future is only a second away

Freaky Alligator

Check the freaky alligator in the street
Smiling because - every body is meat

Check the freaky alligator in the hall
He don't want nothing - he just wants it all

Check the freaky alligator in the room
He just lights it up with his doom and gloom

Check the freaky alligator in the chair
Smiling with his teeth - to catch you unaware

Check the freaky alligators in the sky
Raining water you can't drink - when alligators cry

Check more freaky alligators in the sky
They like to chase the sun away - when alligators fly

Check the freaky alligator in the drink
"Come on in and join me" - I'll catch you when you sink

Hot Summer Day

Hot summer day
Hazy lazy perfectly crazy
your beautiful body
out on display
on a
Hot summer day

Lips like a magnet
Pulling me closer
nothing between us
but the sweat of our bodies
(we are) swimming away
on a
Hot summer day

The sun is so bright
That no one can see us
spinning away
on this
Hot summer day

Just Plain Talk

The radio said
Some guy is dead
He died last night
So long
Just plain talk

Don't touch that dial
More news in a while
Wonder drugs,
free trials
Just plain talk

You dig the sound
of what's goin' 'round
What's going down
list-on
Just plain talk

What's right is wrong
what's left is gone
but the world goes on
and on
Just plain talk

Talk
We can talk
Talk -Talk

The Radio Man
draws a line in the sand
and the phones just rang
and rang
Just plain talk

Go play the blues
When you get the news
Like a missile cruise
Cruise
Just plain talk

Talk We can talk Talk –Talk

King of the Blues

It's a mean old world
getting meaner all the time
If life ain't touchin' you
Then watch out-you're dying

If the ground don't chew you up
You'll be shooting up the sky
Like the Devil

Like the Devil
You won't breath

Like the Devil
You'll deceive

Like the Devil
Your good turn

Like the Devil
Is to watch them burn

If the ground don't chew you up
You'll be shooting up the sky

If your life don't mean a thing
Then surly you will die

Like the Devil

They gonna tie you up and drag you down
Burn your mind in a thorny crown

Like the Devil

Meet Me

Meet me at the Senate baby
Meet me at the bar
I've got chairs at both locations
But one of them is too far

I've got an important bill to pass
I don't know what it is
Some guy in the lobby said
"Here's an envelope, you're good with big biz"

Meet me at the Senate baby
Put me on TV
I know the people are all pissed off
but they elected me

I go near work each day
I don't upset the apple cart
My party will clean up this mess
Pretty soon we just may start

I'm a Patriotic Family man
I'll end this senseless strife
Come here baby, I'll show you my plan
Please don't tell my wife.

More

Put a needle in your arm
Sink in the corner
safe and warm
There's only one thing you want
on that floor is
More, more
Just give me some more

There's a fat cat
burning up the sky
He don't care who lives or dies
There's just one thing he needs
that is
More, more
Just give him some more

Listen children, gather around
Don't buy a ticket to buffet town
nobody will hear you cry
for
More, more
Just give me some more

They always want more
We just want more - we just want more
or there's war

Walter Cronkite is Dead

Moonshot Viet Nam and Kennedy
Politicians Rock Stars and Diety
The truth just might be killing me
But it's OK when Walter's on the TV

But Walter Cronkite is Dead
Walter Cronkite is Dead
Walter Cronkite is Dead
That's what the news man said
can't get it through my head
Walter Cronkite is Dead

Oh no

Dinosaurs Satellites and Rocketships
Red Scare Beatle hair and Foriegn trips
The Country seems to be changing, you can see it in the kids
It's not all good, we'll be OK, "That's the way it is!"

Walter Cronkite is Dead
Walter Cronkite is Dead
Walter Cronkite is Dead
That's what the news man said
can't get it through my head
Walter Cronkite is Dead

Oh no

Father Young

I was broke
I was drugged
I was busted
actin' like a fool

In my darkest hour
I was sure
there was nuthin'
I could do

Like a bird in the oven
I was sure that I was done
But when the door swung open
There was Father Young

Oh Father Young-got me on the train
Yea Father Young-Got me in the game
Oh Father Young-It's so good to be alive
Yea Father Young-I'm so happy, I could cry

So if you are down and out
He will pick you up-show you what to do
You'll be working-with a smile on your face
You will like the brand new you
